🌈 Holi – The Festival of Colours – Celebrations in Preschool

  • 2 min read

Holi is one of the most joyful and vibrant festivals celebrated across India. Known as the Festival of Colours, Holi marks the arrival of spring, the victory of good over evil, and the spirit of togetherness.

✨ The Meaning Behind Holi

Holi is more than just colours and celebrations. It symbolizes:

  • The triumph of good over evil

  • The arrival of spring and new beginnings

  • Forgiveness, love, and unity

The festival begins with Holika Dahan, a traditional bonfire night that represents the burning away of negativity and bad thoughts. The next day is filled with colours, laughter, music, and sweets.

🎨 Why Do We Play with Colours?

Colours bring people together. On Holi, everyone — children and adults alike — apply Gulal (coloured powder) on each other, dance to festive music, and share delicious treats. The colours symbolize joy, positivity, and the beauty of diversity.

Holi also teaches us:

  • To forgive and forget

  • To celebrate togetherness

  • To spread happiness and positivity

  • To welcome new beginnings

It is truly a festival of colours, love, and unity.
