International Day of Peace, celebrated every year on 21 September, is a meaningful opportunity to help young children understand the importance of peace, kindness, empathy, respect, and cooperation. In the early years, these values can be introduced through simple, everyday experiences that help children build positive relationships.

Peace Education in Early Childhood:

Peace begins with how children interact with the people around them. In a preschool classroom, children learn to share, take turns, listen to others, express their feelings, and resolve small disagreements respectfully. These experiences support social-emotional development and help children become more confident and considerate.

At Sakalya Wisdom Early Years, in the Seegehalli, Kannamangala, Kadugodi area of Whitefield, Bangalore near Prestige Park Grove, we believe that peace education in early childhood should be practical, meaningful, and age-appropriate. Through play-based learning, storytelling, group activities, conversations, and creative experiences, children discover that kindness and cooperation are important parts of everyday life.

Learning Through Everyday Experiences:

Young children learn best through experiences. A simple activity such as working together on an art project can teach cooperation and patience. Storytelling can introduce ideas of friendship, compassion, and understanding. Circle-time discussions can encourage children to listen to different perspectives and express their thoughts.

Children also learn that disagreements are a natural part of relationships. With gentle guidance, they can learn to communicate their feelings, listen to their friends, and find peaceful ways to solve problems.

Building Kind and Confident Children:

Social-emotional learning in preschool plays an important role in developing empathy, self-awareness, communication, and respectful behaviour. When children feel heard, valued, and cared for, they are better able to extend the same care to others.

International Day of Peace reminds us that creating a peaceful world begins with nurturing peaceful relationships from the earliest years. Every kind word, helping hand, shared moment, and caring action can become a small lesson in peace.

At Sakalya Wisdom Early Years, we nurture children through holistic early childhood education, helping them grow not only academically but also socially and emotionally. Because peace begins with little hearts learning to care, understand, respect, and live together. 🕊️🌿
