Every year on 18th July, the world celebrates Mandela Day to honour the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela, a leader who dedicated his life to equality, peace, and justice. At Sakalya Wisdom Early Years, in the Seegehalli, Kannamangala, Kadugodi area of Whitefield, Bangalore near Prestige Park Grove we believe that the values Mandela stood for can be introduced to children through simple acts of kindness, sharing, empathy, and respect.
Early childhood is the foundation for building strong character. While young children may not fully understand history, they can learn the importance of being kind to others, helping friends, speaking politely, and caring for everyone around them. These small lessons grow into lifelong values that create responsible and compassionate individuals.
Nelson Mandela believed that education has the power to change the world. His famous words, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world," continue to inspire educators and parents alike. By creating a joyful and nurturing learning environment, we help children develop confidence, curiosity, and respect for others.
To celebrate Mandela Day, children at Sakalya Wisdom Early Years, in the Seegehalli, Kannamangala, Kadugodi area of Whitefield, Bangalore near Prestige Park Grove participated in meaningful activities that encouraged kindness and teamwork. Through storytelling, role-play, sharing games, and classroom discussions, they explored how simple acts like helping a friend, sharing toys, saying "thank you," and showing empathy can make a big difference. These experiences help children understand that every positive action, no matter how small, has the power to brighten someone's day.
At Sakalya, we focus on holistic development by nurturing not only academic skills but also emotional intelligence, social responsibility, and strong moral values. Our play-based learning approach encourages children to become thoughtful, caring, and confident individuals who respect themselves, others, and the world around them.
This Mandela Day, let us remember that building a kinder world begins with raising kind children. Together, parents and educators can inspire the next generation to lead with compassion, courage, and respect—one small act of kindness at a time.
Happy Mandela Day from Sakalya Wisdom Early Years!
