We Celebrated Women’s Day Honoring the Vision Behind Sakalya Wisdom.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, we celebrated the inspiring journey and vision of Lt Col Bincy Kanjirathinal Thomas (Retd), the founder and creator of Sakalya Wisdom Early Years.


A mother, a retired army officer, an entrepreneur, and an education leader, she has always been passionate about creating a meaningful and nurturing educational space for young children. Her journey into early childhood education began when she became a mother. This personal experience led her to deeply explore and research the best learning environments and education models for children during their most important developmental years.


With 21 years of service in the Indian Army Educational Corps, her defense background shaped her values of discipline, dedication, and leadership. These experiences further strengthened her commitment to studying and building an effective education model that truly supports the development of young learners.


She is a Certified Early Education Leader from Harvard University, trained in the globally respected Finland Education Model, and has completed a fellowship program in Holistic Education. She is also a certified storyteller who believes in the power of stories to inspire imagination and learning in children. She is an IIM Calcutta Education leaders’ program alumni who is creating a world class early education setting at Whitefield Bangalore.


Her educational philosophy is deeply inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s concept of Nai Talim, which focuses on learning through experience and meaningful engagement. She strongly advocates mindful education and Social Emotional Ethical Learning, believing that education in the early years should nurture not just knowledge but also empathy, creativity, and emotional well-being.


The name Sakalya, which means “Holistic” in Sanskrit, reflects this vision of nurturing the whole child — mind, body, and heart. With this philosophy, Sakalya Wisdom Early Years was created as a learning space where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to explore their potential.


This well-researched preschool model is the result of more than two decades of dedication and study, which originally began as a parenting goal. Today, this vision continues to benefit not just her own child, but many children in the community.
